The birth of Kate has been such a blessing to our family. After the struggle and heartbreak to get her here, everything seems a little sweeter. The kids can’t seem to get enough of holding her and Geoff and I just sit and stare at her at night when the other kids are asleep and we have just her to focus on. How did we get so lucky?
In the Latter-day Saint church, we give our children a name and a blessing soon after their birth. Geoff was able to do so at our home this past weekend, surrounded by family and close friends. It was a special day, for our very special Kate Naomi.
Of course she didn’t really cooperate for pictures for me that day, so we’ll have to do a re-shoot of her in her amazing dress that my mom made and that Lucy also wore on her blessing day.
All the men who participated in the blessing.
Proud parents.
Kate and Grant (my best friend Amy’s baby). Grant got very serious about his church outfit for the blessing.
I would just like to apologize at this point for all the pictures of me to come. Apparently I was a little camera hog that day.
We had quite the spread. Thanks to Geoff’s mom and sister Kim who worked their fingers to the bone getting the paninis out to everyone. And a special thanks to my little sister Laura who did most all the prep work with me in the days before and even holed up in the guest room slicing apples when the breaker shut off and she and I had a near heart-attack.
With all my family present. I’m so lucky to have so many of my siblings and grandparents in Utah. Sadly, I wasn’t able to round up all of Geoff’s family before they left for a picture.
Geoff and I winding down after a crazy, but lovely day.
The more pictures the merrier. Wish we could’ve been there too. That was a huge group- that’s one blessed baby for sure!
Luke told me the paninis (however you spell them) were AMAZING!!!!! I’m sure that is why he was smiling so big. You look beautiful!! What a blessed day!
Kate is so sweet! Her blessing was perfect! Thanks for having us and thanks for getting that nasty shot of me in your beautiful kitchen!:)
Love the pictures! Leah, you have such a beautiful family!
It was a great day for sure. So much fun!
I LOVE all these pics of you Leah, you look gorgeous as ever!!!
And that is the cutest little dress Kate is in. What a treasure your mom made. I love her little headband too.
What a blessed little lady! We love you Baby Kate!
would you mind sharing where your outfit is from? your look gorgeous! thanks.
Thanks Christen! My “outfit” (more like grab a shirt that I can nurse quick in and a skirt that somewhat fits), is old, but the top is J Crew found at DownEast Outfitters and the skirt is from a Banana Republic outlet.
She is soooo adorable…I love seeing pictures of her…and in that dress?? I can’t get enough!!
I love her sweet little headband, Leah! Did you make it? I am so excited for you. I’ve been feeling so awful and morning sick lately…a post like this is just what I needed to remind me that there really is an end in sight. Hugs to you and your sweet, beautiful family.
Her head thing was made by my talented friend from Lou and Lee (etsy). Isn’t it too die for?
Leah,
I’m loving her little headband and corduroy dress-how darling. Wow, that’s a huge crew for a blessing-what a lucky gal! You look lovely and happy. How fun to have three kiddos now! Super happy for you. 🙂
