This couple holds a special place in my heart. When my brother Seth and family were in the car accident, Sydney emailed me and asked if she could bring a package to him in South Africa as she was going to visit her fiancé. We hadn’t met yet and I was overwhelmed with her kindness towards my family. Several months later we met up on a gorgeous October evening for a quick photoshoot before their traditional Braai celebration, and then their wedding a few days later. Lots of pictures to come of this beautiful couple.
I might be partial because Thales is my sister-in-law’s little brother, but isn’t this a beautiful couple? I just love their laid back style and how much they are in love with each other. Made my job very easy because it was darn near impossible to get a bad picture of them, they are so happy! Congratulations you two.
Can I tell you how excited I am to shoot this couple’s wedding? We had so much fun together, laughing, hanging out, and sweating (it’s finally hot here in Utah!!). I love that I got to document such a happy, anxious and exciting time in these two beautiful people’s lives. Congratulations!
This sir wanted to jump in for a picture. You know you’re hanging with a cool couple when they oblige, even when he puts his arm in yours. Creepy.
They’ll be having Italian Sodas at their reception so we popped over to Sammy’s to get one.
Amanda requested a trip to Thanksgiving Point for pictures. I had never gone there before for pictures so it was all new to me. Some things you should know about Thanksgiving Point are: 1. They don’t joke around with photography over there, you must carry a pass at all times and you will be one of a million people taking pictures. 2. When you go during “Tulip Festival” you might think, as they imply, that there are fields of tulips. There aren’t. This is a myth. 3. When you are in a massive hurry and decide to employ the services of a golf cart tour, they may drive for ten minutes, drop you off in a small patch of tulips and leave. And then you will have to walk all the way back.
BUT, if you’re hanging out with Amanda and Josh during all of this, it won’t phase you because they laugh a lot, are madly in love, and occasionally do inappropriate things. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in June.
Photographing this couple has been one of the highlights in my photography career. Just the kindest people and so sweet to each other. I was so privileged to take pictures of them to commemorate their 40th anniversary at the place they were married (Salt Lake City Utah Temple). They didn’t get any pictures at the temple the day they were actually married, so it was a wonderful gift to them when their kids surprised them by hiring me to take some of them at their special place.
This is how all the pictures started out. If this isn’t the sign of being married for 40 years, I don’t know what is.
