Last year this happened when Lucy and Isaac sat on Santa’s lap. I was determined this year to not have a repeat so we talked about how nice Santa is over and over again. I even had her view him from afar at the mall. It seemed like we had overcome the fear…until the night of our ward party. When he came out, she started shaking and saying “I cared (scared) Santa.” Let’s just say it didn’t go well, again. She didn’t even get as far as his lap to give us a real back-arching freakout.
Isaac, however, was shaking too, but with excitement. He had made his Christmas list some time ago and had been waiting to give it to one of Santa’s helpers, because clearly, the real Santa only comes on Christmas day-duh mom.
Geoff bought Christmas books for the kids to open the last 12 days of Christmas. It’s been a fun thing for all of us and a great new tradition.
Not only is Santa scary but apparently a peeping tom too- pulling Luli’s skirt up and all.
Love that tradition of new books.
i love that photo from last year; so funny. when you really think about it, santa really is kind of scary: some heavy stranger with long hair and a beard…it sure would be scary in any other scenario! aspen did the same thing: i prepared her all day to sit on santa’s lap, but she wouldn’t, and then told me later that santa was “scary and mean.” oh well…i got lots of hugs and squeezes from her while he was around, so that was nice 🙂
Love Lucy’s skirt!! We’ve had our far share of “cared Nata” too.
I wouldn’t let my kids on that Santa, he sits on a throne of lies.
i am sorry, but I am dying laughing right now at that top picture and remembering last year! and what is going on with santa? Isaac is too cute and I love how they are all dressed up, my kids look like orphans in their Santa pictures! I love what Geoff is doing, he is such a good dad!
Isaac looks so proud. We’re hoping for a different outcome with Sofia this year, but not getting my hopes up. Geoff looks so mature with the glasses. Good think I know the real Geoff.
Callie is so scared of Santa Too. And…we are doing the books every night to and Callie loves it.
something in statistical data about when kids have their father read to them- a different part of the brain is stimulated or something about having a double impact something something- cant remember- but it is very good for them- go geoff
