My brother’s family came down to the studio last week. It ended up being a very, very dark day unfortunately. But the gray skies couldn’t keep us down and we still danced and played ring around the rosy with a super high ISO.

Meet the Adams family, a family that’s very dear to me. John hired me eleven years ago to work with him at an ad agency here in Utah while I was finishing up my Graphic Design degree at BYU. Since then, we’ve worked together on and off and remained very good friends. He has taught me so much over the years regarding design and the finer things in life like a good Phil Hendrie bit. I was honored when they contacted me to take their family pictures. Thank you Adams family for your love and support through all these years. Here’s two another eleven years of friendship!
This year was so fun! The kids were really into the festivities. Last night the kids asked me if this was “the REAL Halloween”, since we’d gone to a couple parties before. We had dinner with Geoff’s parents and walked around their neighborhood, then went over to join Amy and her family. The kids were running from door to door like maniacs. You’d have though they’d never seen piece of candy before.
Isaac changed his costume last minute from a Karate Kid to this, something my sister got for us years ago. Whatever.
He said he was “a pirate who was in a wreck”.
Never seen a more perfect Alice in Wonderland. She got her first pair of “pointy shoes” and felt very grown up.
Such a sweet piggy.
Kudos to whoever can guess Geoff’s costume. I was a 1920’s flapper girl the evening before, but couldn’t bring myself to put on the itchy boa again for the night of.
Kate and Geoff’s mom, Bat Lady.
I made myself turn off the computer and forget about the three logos I have to design, two sessions to edit, dinner to make, and left my kids, ALL of my kids, in the hands of a very capable sitter. I jumped in the car with Geoff and some friends and didn’t look back. Because what I had to look forward to was AH-MAZING. So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 SLC tour baby!! It was beyond fantastic and just the break I needed. I thought I was obsessed with the show/talent until I saw the grown woman in front of me weeping. No joke.
Sorry I’ve been MIA lately. I am buried in work, being a mom and church responsibilities. As soon as my head is above water, I promise to post some of my latest sessions.
The kids had two days off this last week and we decided to make it a “staycation”. The kids made a list of things they wanted to do and we did our very best to check everything off the list.
First thing on the list was to go to a pumpkin patch. The one in Springville had a really cool cornbox, if that’s a word.
Then we went to This is the Place, Heritage Park. The kids loved it and we were there for hours learning about how Pioneers lived.
Kate was a dream baby. Missed both her naps and was just as happy as could be.
Others on the list were a hike to the Spanish Fork hot pots which were SO cool, go out to dinner, see the leaves turning colors in the canyon, visit Grandma Lola and carve pumpkins. I’m happy to say we got to check them all off the list!
Sleeping through the night.
Loves to pull out what little hair I have left.
Slobbery kisses on my chin.
Says “mamma” and “dada”, but I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know that that means something other then we freak out when she says it.
So happy, and so mellow. Unless she’s growling.
Can eat and eat and eat.
The smallest of my babies with the most hair.
Sits up like a champ.
Not even close to crawling.
Two healthy ankles again.
Laughs at herself when splashing in the tub.
We can’t believe you’ve already been here eight months baby girl.

I’m gazing on these pictures longingly, remembering just a few days ago when it was 85 degrees and the thought that there would be two inches of snow on my lawn today was a just a joke. A cruel joke that is currently a reality.
My sister Laura and family came and stayed with us for a week and it was dreamy. We went running, went to a movie, went boating, watched an amazingly inspiring conference, and canned peaches. I’ve never canned peaches by myself so I was so excited when Laura told me she was coming. The whole process was kind of ridiculous. Oh the pictures look like it was good clean fun, but I neglected to take one half of the way through when we had babies everywhere, peels and juice dripping and peaches starting to brown. Kind of a nightmare, but one that turned out 35 quarts of deliciousness.
Confession: I despise mopping, and cleaning bathrooms for that matter, but we’re focusing on mopping today. Geoff mops and the kids help me with the in between days when the kitchen floor needs a little help. I went back to my days as an innovative girl when I secured sponges to my little brother’s feet with shoelaces and told him to run around the bathroom. It was great fun, and the mopping got done, and I didn’t have to do the work myself. Fast forward twenty years and I’ve implemented “feet mopping” with my kids. It involves bare feet and some Clorox wipes and they think it’s loads of fun. They took it to the next level in this picture, using hands as well. Goodness knows after all that canning my floor needed it.
And then to top the week off, my parents arrived and we took them to the Missionary Training Center to start off their mission preparation. They were anxious and very excited. I was just happy it wasn’t our last goodbye so I didn’t have to worry about the finality of it all. We’ll get to have them a day before they leave for the airport to Fiji, yahoo!
The homeless man here would be the brother who I tricked into doing my cleaning.
Aren’t they cute?
