Are you sick of looking at pictures of me and my family yet? You might be after this post.

After mentioning to my friend, Jessica that I didn’t have any pictures with Kate, she offered to come take some of us with our newest addition. How lucky am I? I have always loved looking back at pictures of my mom with each of us as we were growing up and I hope my children will cherish these pictures as I do in years to come. They are of us, in our home, with little preparation or fan-fare, doing what we do.

Can you tell we’re all more than a little smitten with our baby girl?

Today marks three months since Kate was born. Last week I turned thirty-one years old. There are so many years between us, but most of the time it feels like we’ve know each other forever. With yesterday being Mother’s Day, I had some time to reflect on the three who make me a mother. I am so grateful to have them in my care. It’s such an awesome responsibility to love and teach children and I often times fall short. I’m so lucky to have a mother who is one of my best friends who taught me from the very beginning how to mother, and continues to do so to this day.

Thank you to my friend Jessica Kettle, who came and took some pictures of our family and Kate and I. What a gift to have a tangible memory of us, as we are, right now. Family pictures to come.

And then a drive down the road to have Easter dinner with grandma and grandpa and some aunts and uncles.

The Easter egg hunt begins! Both the kids were a blur.


Isaac and Lucy. Lucy decided to stay in her cute Easter outfit, while Isaac put on the shirt our neighbors brought back for him from Zions which he refuses to take off. Oh well.

On Saturday we became farmers. We’ve been talking about raising chickens for some time now and decided to surprise the kids the day before Easter with some. We found a lady on Craigslist who was selling several different varieties, so we packed up the kids and headed over there and let them pick out five.

They named them:
Sunny
Rusty
Jasmine
Peep
Chip


Isaac was hilarious on the way home. We were explaining to him that when the chicks started laying eggs, they wouldn’t be turning into chickens because they weren’t going to be sat on (we kind of side-stepped the mating talk). Very seriously he said, “I’ll sit on them.” I told him that if he sat on them that the egg would break. He then told me that he would “just put on some of dad’s big comfy pants and sit on them.”

Geoff’s almost done with the coop, though the chickens will be in our basement under a heat lamp for a couple more weeks. Come on over and meet them!

It’s raining buckets here and we’re all sorely missing Las Vegas. Literally. We’re burnt and sore. It was absolutely PERFECT weather there. That paired with staying with Geoff’s sister’s family, made for a delightful Spring Break. I shopped to my hearts content (which generally involves me looking at a whole lot of things and not buying anything which drives Geoff crazy), ate delicious food, laughed till we nearly peed our pants watching a particular YouTube video, and spent almost every waking moment with cousins outside and in their pool. Kate slept like a dream, Geoff and I got to go on a date and even went running together in the morning, and the kids were completely entertained playing with their cousins. All of these things make for my kind of vacation. Heavenly I tell you!

It’s spring break around here. The sun is actually shining as opposed to the blizzard on Saturday in which I was shooting a wedding. We’re excited for no schedules, staying in pjs and playing with lots of friends. What are you doing or did you do for Spring Break?
