He’s been real sweet as of late.
Isaac asked if we could make a kite and fly it. It was a fun little project until we finished it and Isaac told me he meant a paper airplane.
…I had almost all my brothers and sisters with me.
Minus Luke and Sara and co, everyone was able to make it to RDC this year. RDC is a camp that my mom’s great-grandma started, so it’s been in the family for quite some time. Most of my brothers and sisters have worked there over the years as well and we went there a fair amount growing up, so it holds a special place in all of our hearts. I was so excited to see family whom I hadn’t seen in a while (Laura just returned from her mission), hadn’t met before (Sage, my sister Emily’s baby), or wouldn’t see for a while (Seth, Caroline and Tommy who are off to Ghana till December).
The weather was kind of crappy the first couple days, but thankfully the Olympics were on so we didn’t get cabin fever too badly. The last days were gorgeous and sunny and we fit as much as we could possibly do in a day. I enjoyed lovely morning runs with my sister Laura, talks with my sister Emily, playing with nieces and nephews, kyaking, playing tennis, laying out, eating delicious food, laughing with Seth, and just reconnecting with everyone including my own little family.
There are loads of posts and I hope you wont hate me for it. My little brother Luke is away on his mission in Paris France and I’m hoping he will enjoy seeing the family.
*family photos taken after Matt and family had left unfortunately
A near miracle getting all the kids to stay on this bench and look at us.
My kiddos.
My sisters, minus Sara.
My parents are the best grandparents! They spent every second with the grandkids on this trip. I am so grateful for them and their desire to build a relationship with my children.
Lucy with Ami (my mom).
Isaac with Ami and Poppy.
My mom took Lucy on a horse-drawn carriage ride. Lucy loved it and was very vocal about the “doggies” the whole time.
Introducing my newest niece, Sage. I was ecstatic to get to see her at camp and that my sister came despite the fact that Sage was only three weeks old. My kids were obsessed with her. Lucy wanted to eat her and Isaac wanted to hold her every second.
Tommy (my brother Seth and Caroline’s son).
Sofia with her infectious smile. I’ve never heard a cuter laugh than hers.
My brother Matt, Jessica and Sofi.
New parents Emily (my sister), Sage and Ryan.
Seth, Caroline and Thomas.
Seth and Tomatillo.
Aunti Em with Sage in a sling and Lucy.
Tommy in the most hideous full body sun protecting get-up known to mankind.
Isaac on the sailboat with Uncle Matt.
All the boys out on the floating dock.
Watching Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang over and over again with Auntie Laura.
Shhhh.
Cowboys and Indians with Uncle Seth.
Wacky Canoe Races! Caroline and I placed third in our portion of the relay. Seth had his telephoto lens and I’m awaiting his pictures which I’ll post at a later time.
Lucy proudly wearing our Sherry Family ribbon.
Tradition at RDC is to attend a non-denominational church on an island just a short trip away from camp. Geoff stayed at the cabin with Lucy so she could take a nap while the rest of us took a boat over to the island and enjoyed the service out in nature.
Playing on the docks after the service while waiting for the boat.
Me and my boy.
Sitting on the dock with Poppy.
Isaac LOVED fishing, and by loved, I mean that he literally caught 52 fish. Not kidding. A group of boys gathered around him and told him he was a good fisherman, he quickly replied “thanks”. I’m not sure if I was was more proud of the fact that he was catching so many fish, or that he used such good manners.
